A Kiss From Long Ago

Terrible Cell Phone Picture of My WIP Dress.

Long time no post, but I'm back now!
There has been a lot of updates since my last post.
First and foremost, I've been sewing.
Yay!!!

I'd been thinking about making a dress for my HeeAh, now renamed Jin Hee, out of this wool fabric for a while now. The fabric was really suitable for her, but I was a little scared to use it because I haven't really sewn for a while now and I didn't want to waste nice fabric.
I finally stopped being lazy and drafted the patterns for the dress and got sewing. It's still a work in progress and there are definitely some things that need to be fixed, but I think it's coming along nicely so far.

Also, my Taobao shoe order from the GO I joined with MissFlynn, (http://bjdgrouporders.tumblr.com/), arrived back in November and I must say that I'm very pleased with the experience.
This was the first time that I purchased shoes for a doll since around 2009/2010, so I was really excited.
The shoes are lovely and MissFlynn was great to work with.
You can find more pictures of the items that I purchased here and my review of the items here.

Thank you for viewing!
I'll be posting more update over the weekend ~

Cooking By the Book: Dolly Finds... at Home

For the past several months I have been searching for kitchenware/ cookware for my dolls.
After visiting several thrift stores, I suddenly remembered this one item I had when I was a little girl.
It was a cup. A cup from a  1996 "Kitchen Littles" set.

"Kitchen Littles" sets were supposed to be scaled to Barbie sized dolls, but I remembered how large that cup was in comparison to Barbies little, tiny hands.
Then, I started to remember how over-sized most of the items were in comparison to Barbie and I started digging.
Several hours (and a destroyed bedroom) later, my dolls were ready to start frying it up.
Part of my Kitchen Littles collection.
The Cup in Question

Sadly, the "Kitchen Littles" appliances (stove, fridge, etc.) are waaay to short for Msd sized dolls,
but they do seem to be the right width.
I have been boosting them up on little card board boxes to make them the right height.

I am seriously so happy that I was able to find all of these things.
Especially in my house.
Never throwing things away does come in handy sometimes.

Shoe Addict!: A Tale of Empty Pockets

Paul Zhangby Boots and Gift Earrings

I haven't posted in a while and I wanted to show off some of the new items I've gotten in the mail for my dollies!!

I've been on a shoe spree and the shoes pictured only mark the beginning.
The are boots made by Paul Zhangby on Ebay for 22" Tonner dolls and MSDs.
As you can see, I couldn't decide between the pink and the mint ones so I decided to get them both. (LOL)
I think they look wonderful and they came with a lovely pair of (free!) earrings that I will probably turn into pendants or hair-clips for my girl.

I also purchased these cute little loafers from MyBayer2008 (who ships incredibly fast :O).
Ugly picture of cute shoes.
I think they are really adorable. Also, they work really well with                                   both boys and girls, which is a definite plus.
Lastly, I did a bad thing and hopped on a GO that is being run by MissFlynn
(http://bjdgrouporders.tumblr.com/) and I must say that I have completely lost my mind.
I spent hours compiling a list of cute shoes that I wanted for my soon-to-be re-shelled Mihwa and so far I have about 9 pairs of shoes set to order.
Crazy times!
Hopefully, that order goes well and I'll have lots of cute, new shoes to show off in the near future.

A New Do...

Servin' up some wonky eyed realness.

A made a new wig for my boy last night.
It needs some work, but I like it a lot.
I really love the waves. :O

Everything is a work in progress for him at the moment.
His new face-up isn't completed because I ran out of sealant.
The jeans I was making for him still don't have a waistband
because my sewing machine needs oil.
Grrrrrrrr

Also, I got some new brown eyes for him from 'Mybayer2008' on ebay a couple of weeks ago.
They are his first 10mm eyes. The eyes he had in before were 8mm eyes that came with 'MyDolling HeeAh' and they were very gappy. These new eyes a very nice looking, but I've been have a super hard time positioning them the way I want them,
But hey they were only about $7 so I can't really complain that much.

Dreams Do Come True

Ahhhhhh! I'm so happy right now.
Last night, I had a dream that I found some amazing things at the thrift store. So of course I had to make a trip there today. And tada! I found a brass frame for my kids bed for only $5. I seriously have been looking for one of these for a few years now, but everytime I found one it was either too narrow or too expensive.
It does have a couple of issues, but those can be easily fixed.
Overall I think it was an awesome find!

Dolly Maintenance Weekend!

Left: The dyed pieces  Right: Feet, after dye removal

This weekend has become has official become a 'Maintenance Weekend' for my dollies.

After much consideration, (not really), I decided to remove the dye from 'Mydolling HeeAh'.
She and Miilo were originally set to be brother and sister, so they were dyed the same colour, but I've decided to re-shell that character,
I began soaking her in Winsor & Newton brush cleaner yesterday afternoon and she's looking good so far.
Next, I plan on cleaning and restringing Miilo's body. I used Citadel Purity spray from Games Workshop to seal his body and that was a mistake. It looks as if he was sunburned or something. It started peeling EVERYWHERE!
Sadly, that means I will have to redo his face-up too.

It'll all be worth it in the end though.
I can't wait to show HeeAh after her transformation!

With Love...

A tiny pocket for you.

Dolly Finds and Purchases(●^o^●)

Over the weekend, I went on a dolly shopping extravaganza!
I found lots of cute things (on sale) for my MSDs and the doll room I am building for them.
I purchased waaay too much to show them all in one post so,
pictured, above, are some of my favorite finds.

The two mini potted plants, by Ashland, and the mini white mesh basket were found at Michael's
They cost from $0.50 to about $1.30 each.

Next, the pink trashcan and the sink.
They were both found at Target and I love, LOVE these two items.

Trashcan/ Pencil Holder from Target

The pink trashcan is actually a decorative pencil holder, that is to be placed on a desk. It has two, functional, wheels, a handle and a lift-able lid. It is the perfect size for a short, stationary trashcan when compared to a MSD. However, it is a bit too short to photograph a tall MSD 'dragging' it. Maybe it would work better with a 30cm doll?

Passport Collection- Paperclip Holder from Target
Finally, the sink.                                         The sink is a paperclip holder, by Passport Collection, that I found in the 'Giftables' section at Target. It's amazing and in my opinion it is perfectly scaled with MSD dolls. It was the most expensive item I purchased during my shopping extravaganza at $12.99. I think it was worth it.

Blargh

New and (hopefully) improved pattern.

Yesterday, I spent my whole evening attempting to sew a pair of skinny jeans for my Limhwa Mono.
I was creating the jeans from a pattern that made last year.
There was a couple times in the day where I looked down at the pattern/garment and thought 'hmmm... something is really weird about this'.  However, after enduring multiple issues with my sewing machine  and... the sun (warning signs maybe?), I kept going.

Finally, I got one pant leg completed and went to go try it on my boy. Surprise! The pants did not fit.
The were way too small and it was really weird. I'd made jeans for my Mono using the same pattern last summer and they fit him fine.

Sooooo, instead of spending hours trying to figure out what went wrong, I decided to make him a new pattern. Ta Da!
Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Hope these fit!

Kiss And Make Up... Ashanti

Last night I started working on a new face-up for my SID Iplehouse Ashanti.
I really haven't played with her since last summer, so I'm really excited to see how she turns out.
For her her face-up, I'm mostly using chalk pastels and water colour pencils. I'm only going to use just a teensy bit of acrylic paint in her eye area for her eyeliner and such.

Denim Dreams

Here is my doll modeling an old attempt at an outfit.
Light blue jeans with a denim-esque (it's actually linen) striped blazer/vest.
Maybe one day I'll finally sew the sleeves onto that jacket...

Memory...

I remember when he first arrived at my house two years ago.
I always wanted a Limhwa Mono, but it never seemed to work out.
The company went on hiatus and I never had the funds when one would appear on the marketplace.
When Junkyspot became the new dealer for EOSdoll/Limhwa I was elated.
'Miilo" came home August 8, 2011.

I bonded with him immediately.
He arrived as normal skin, but I dyed him tan about 2 months after getting him.
As he was my first msd doll I wasn't really sure what to expect.
Thankfully, having him has been a wonderful experience.

Miilo is no longer his name (I'm still searching for one that suits him), but he is still one of my most favoured dolls.
I look forward to seeing his character grow and possibly getting another Mono in the future.

A Kiss From Me To You...

This blog was created to share all of my dolly related adventures and projects.
I have been collecting dolls since I was very young and about 9 years ago I discovered Bjds.
I purchased my first Bjd when I was 17 and I have been completely enamored with the hobby ever since.
From customizing characters to prop hunting to sewing little outfits; I love it all!
